Titusville Herald

English, 80, of Titusville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, after a valiant battle with cancer.Dave was born on July 24, 1937, in Titusville, to the late Cletus M. and Madeline C. Karg English. He married Barbara Ann Wright on July 15, 1967, in Erie.He was a 1955 graduate of St. Joseph Academy.  He served in the U.S. Army, in food service, from 1961 through 1964, and was honorably discharged with the rank of specialist 4th class.Dave worked in the family business, with his father, from 1955 through 1967, when he bought the business, English Service Center; and he continued running it until his retirement in 2004.  One of the greatest joys of his life was meeting all the friends he had made during his working life.He loved getting his hands dirty and working on his customer’s cars.He enjoyed family get togethers, trips to Hawaii and out West, Ireland, and vacations in Corolla. He loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in various sports and activities. He also liked hunting, nature, and working in his yard.Dave was a lifetime member of St. Titus Church, and past president of its Parish Council and St. Titus School Board. He was a member of the Titusville Alumni Board and the Titusville Area Hospital Auxiliary.Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, of 50 years. He is the loving father of Lori and husband, Dan Hauptman, of Titusville, Dr. Beth English and husband, Steve Barnes, of Pennington, N.J., and Dr. Gregory English and wife, Dr. Lisa English, of Erie. He is the dear grandfather of six grandsons, David and Jake Hauptman, Simon and Graham Barnes, and William and Sam English. He is also survived by the following sisters and brothers: Mary Beth Wager, of Rome, N.Y., Robert English and wife, Rosemary, of Rocky River, Ohio, Jeanne English, of Oil City, Gerald English and wife, Carol, of Columbus, Ohio, Patricia Powers and husband, Francis, of Salix, JoAnn English, widow of brother Donald English, of Titusville, Barbara Calka and husband, Jack, of Conemaugh, and James English, of Hilton Head, S.C., and Chicago, Ill. Vincent Patrick Culleton, 64, Dittmer, formerly of St. Louis

Louis, died Aug. 27, 2017, in St. Louis. Since the passing of his mother, he had made his home with his sister, Eileen. Mr. Culleton was a Christian, having been baptized in the Catholic faith at a young age. He attended special school until the age of 20, and loved playing video games, helping around the house and coloring (his favorite color was purple). He was passionate about taking pictures and arranging them in albums, and was the go-to person if family members were searching for a particular photograph. He especially enjoyed spending time with his best friend, Kathleen, and going to Six Flags to ride the rides. Born April 24, 1953, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Thomas and Genevieve Mary (Wobbe) Culleton.He is survived by three sisters: Eileen (Pete) Dittrich of Dittmer (with whom he made his home since the passing of his mother), Mary Ann McKechnie of Hyannis, Neb., and Catherine Askew of St. Louis; four brothers: James Culleton of St. Louis, Michael (June) Culleton of Cuba, Mo., John Culleton of St. Louis and Thomas (Shari) Culleton of St. Louis; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother: Leo Jones.Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, 530 E. Springfield Ave., in St. Clair, with rosary services at 7:30 PM.  Visitation is at 9 a.m. and a funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Luebbering, officiated by Father Bob Knight. Burial is in the  Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Russell Colonial Funeral Home. (Leader Publications)
